It would also have been perfect for a longer family holiday. We found it really peaceful having the ponies and peacocks wandering around us outside and our 2 year old found the riding lessons next door very interesting as he had not seen anything like the before.   We had a great 2 nights stay. The accommodation was much better than we had expected, with lots of extra space via the conservatory and garden. There... read more were many nice touches such as milk in the fridge, tea bags and biscuits; just what we needed after a long drive up! The fairy lights were a big hit with the children, along with the horses and peacocks wandering around the garden and fields. If you’re a light sleeper and would like a lie in, I’d recommend bringing some earplugs as the accommodation is on a working equestrian centre. It was not an issue for us though and added immensely to the experience of our stay.

The lodge is very well equipped, more than written on the description and the fact that there is a washing machine and a dishwasher is very useful for real holidays! Jill and Simon are very nice and always answer to our questions very quickly.

  Simon's place is a great base for any activities in the Exmoor area. It's very private and cosy and the hosts are very responsive. I'd happily go there again.

  Stay away for my son's 18th, the hosts were friendly along with the horses and peacocks, we took our 2 rescue dogs for the trip and they enjoyed sniffing around... read more the different scents. Great communication from owners who warned us of some potential noise disturbance which turned out not to be a problem at all.
